ENG: Despite the lack of cuts. this piece came out very well and definitely deserves a spot in my portfolio.
This project came along during the 2nd year of my study at the Willem de Kooning Academy.
The assignment was to make a long take, a.k.a. a shot with an as long as possible duration without using any cuts.
In this assignment, the long take needed to be a possible intro for a film, and thus it should be supported with a short concept description.

We went for a thriller-like intro sequence about a young man, not feeling very well, entering his flat, after having a blackout right before. He stumbles across the hall towards the elevator, feeling distanced from reality. In order to convey extra suspense, we created an eerie atmosphere by shifting the camera focus from the subject to the environment and back, and choosing the right visage and location for the scene. During the post-production phase, I created a suitable audio track by slowing down a series of sounds that support the concept and story. The audio mix was finalized by another teammate. The last step was color grading. We decided to go with a green tint to go with a motel look and make the color of the blood on the actor's forehead stand out even more.
